almost finished...

I'm about 50 pages from the end of this lovely read. I used to watch the French Chef with my paternal grandmother when I was a little girl, so Julia always reminds me of her in some ways. I never knew what an adventurous & interesting life she led. The book is really very charming. And Meryl Streep as Julia, I absolutely loved it!

um...LOVE THIS!

Such an inspiring scene...loving the colors :) This is Shauna's space (Somethings Hiding in Here) from Apartment Therapy. My creative space is pretty organized right now, but also pretty uninspired. I want to paint & cute it up, big time. Another project for the never-ending list...

details...

This is an unfinished page in my mini-book. I bought these Christmas light buttons last year. I love how these look strung on embroidery thread and stapled to the page. Only 4 days to go until the weekend!!

around the house...

I did some decorating around the house this week. I think I'll try to do more fall decorating and baking this week. I'm also in the market for some pumpkins...

more mini-book...

Having so much fun with this!! I found some of my old origami papers and I had a stack of paint chips and tags that went great with the rest of my colors. I hope to finish the book(and the cover) today...once I finish cleaning my house of course! It's a beautiful, crisp, cool fall day and the sun is shining bright - makes me want to eat honeycrisp apples with sharp vermont cheddar cheese on an autumn picnic.

eating & making...

I made beef barley soup...and it was soooo good. Making this soup makes me really feel like I am cooking. It takes hours and hours and hours for this soup to be just right. Delicious! I am quite excited for cooler weather.

And I worked on my mini-book using the Housewife Kit...I love these supplies! I hope to get a few more pages done tonight and then I need to get cracking on some of the autumn class projects! Lots to do....

a case of the ickies...

I need some color today! I am under the weather and stuck at home. I think I'll make a big pot of soup to build up my strength. Hopefully I will feel up to being crafty or creative tomorrow :)

gloomy...

I've been kind of down in the dumps lately. I passed my test last week (yay!) and of course I am relieved. But Cory and I have been having a rough time lately and are taking some time to figure things out. I am going to do a major cleaning and maybe paint some walls in happy colors this weekend.

Happy Birthday!!

On September 18, 1983, my life changed forever. My two sisters, Molly and Erin, and my brother Nicholas were born. We were a family of 6 for just a few years and then our baby Michael came along. Now that we're older, I can honestly say that they are not only my siblings, but my very best friends. Love you guys!! Happy 26th birthday!

sweetness

I can't remember where I found this adorable pic of felted wool Totoros...but I am posting it today in honor of my host family in Japan. I lived with them for a summer when I was 15 and then I lived in Japan again for 2 years when I graduated from university. I lived about 3 hours away from them at that time, but I visited them at least once each month. And they were the most gracious and welcoming hosts to me and a great number of my foreign friends living in Japan. I miss them! I heard from my host sister and father this week by email and it made me soooo happy!
We all go through times when we make less of an effort to keep track of our friends and family who aren't in close proximity to us. But hearing from them reminded me how important my relationship with them is, and encourages me to make these small efforts with other friends I've lost touch with.
P.S. It's almost Friday....I really need it to be the weekend.
